Saudade exists as a tool to explore, record and reflect upon my relationship with my mother. Ultimately it acts as a memeno-mori and as a tribute to her.

Saudade is a Portuguese word that has no direct translation. The closest English description of the word describes Saudade as the love that remains when someone or something is lost, the presence of absence, a recollection of the moments with a person that were taken for granted.

This project acts as an impulse to experience this feeling whilst my mother is with me, to recollect the moments whilst I'm living them.
